Full Mouth Rehabilitation with the OMRT Technique
Abstract
The success of any dental treatment depends on an accurate functional diagnosis of the stomatognathic system. Gnathology represents the foundation for planning predictable and stable prosthetic, orthodontic, and implant-supported rehabilitations.
The course will present the diagnostic and therapeutic protocol of OMRT (Occlusal Mandibular Reposition Technique), developed by Dr. Nazzareno Bassetti, illustrating the clinical pathway from the collection of diagnostic data (clinical examination, photographic documentation, analog and digital impressions, face-bow transfer, articulator analysis, and condylography) to the identification of the Therapeutic Position (TRP) and the design of the treatment plan.
Through clinical cases, ranging from simple cases to complex multidisciplinary rehabilitations, it will be demonstrated how the integration of function, aesthetics, biomechanics, and bio-psycho-social-economic aspects represents the key to achieving predictable, long-lasting clinical outcomes that are shared among the different dental disciplines.
The aim of the course is to provide a practical and immediately applicable reasoning method to integrate gnathological diagnosis into everyday clinical practice, transforming it into the foundation of every modern rehabilitation.
Rather than being presented merely as a technique, OMRT is introduced as a clinical pathway that enables dentists to consider the patient in their complexity, guiding them toward successful rehabilitations in which aesthetics, function, and biomechanics are closely interconnected.
Learning Objectives
- Apply the OMRT diagnostic protocol to collect and interpret gnathological data — including clinical examination, photographic and digital records, face-bow transfer, articulator analysis, and condylography — to identify the Therapeutic Position (TRP).
- Integrate functional diagnosis into treatment planning, combining function, aesthetics, biomechanics, and bio-psycho-social-economic factors when designing prosthetic, orthodontic, and implant-supported rehabilitations.
- Transfer OMRT clinical reasoning into daily practice, using case-based examples to achieve predictable, long-lasting outcomes shared across dental disciplines.
Biography
Dr. Nazzareno Bassetti graduated with high honors in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics in 1988 from the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. In 2002, he earned an MSc in the “Therapy of Masticatory Organ Dysfunctions” at Donau University of Krems, Austria, studying under Prof. Slavicek, Prof. Sato, and Prof. Mehta. In 2007, he was awarded the title of Academic Expert in Orthodontics.
From 2011 to 2022, he taught in Prof. Slavicek’s internationally renowned VIESID courses. He is the developer of the innovative OMRT technique and the author of the acclaimed book The Vertical Dimension in Prosthetics and Orthodontics, translated into nine languages worldwide.
