The invisible interface: adhesive cementation
Abstract
Today, with the use of new aesthetic materials in modern prosthetic rehabilitations, the need for adhesive cementation is increasingly becoming more prevalent.
The use of adhesive cements requires knowledge of the different substrates we treat to avoid bond failures.
We will analyze the various types of substrates we treat daily and select the best adhesive cement for the appropriate clinical indication.
Through literature and clinical experience, we will seek to clarify the steps and materials we use every day, uncovering the potential that adhesive cementation can offer today, both aesthetically and mechanically.
We will analyze the best material for the appropriate clinical situation, providing practical clinical suggestions to implement every day
Learning Objectives
- Identify and differentiate the main dental and restorative substrates involved in adhesive cementation and understand how their characteristics influence bonding procedures.
- Select the most appropriate adhesive cement and surface-treatment protocol according to the restorative material, clinical indication, and substrate involved.
- Apply evidence-based adhesive cementation protocols in daily clinical practice to reduce bonding failures and improve the aesthetic, mechanical, and long-term clinical outcomes of prosthetic restorations.
